Job Title: Lead Backend Software Engineer (Databricks & Airflow)
Rate: €450-€550 per day
Contract: Initial 3-month contract (possibility to extend)
Location: Fully Remote
Working Hours: Must be available 4-8 PM UK time (flexible working hours)

About the RoleWe are looking for a Lead Backend Software Engineer with expertise in Databricks and Airflow to work on a meaningful project with a nonprofit organization. The organization is committed to making government and public policy data accessible, transparent, and easy to understand for users.
Responsibilities

  • Participate in architectural discussions and software development decisions.
  • Translate functional requirements into technical requirements.
  • Develop new features and improvements.
  • Ensure adherence to best coding practices.
  • Collaborate with the QA team to ensure a seamless release process.
  • Take part in agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous team improvements.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience as a software engineer.
  • Proven experience leading engineering teams.
  • Strong experience in Databricks and Airflow.
  • Advocate for best practices in software development.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Azure and Python.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Passion for learning new technologies and workflows.

Communication & Collaboration

  • English proficiency (B2 or higher) in written and spoken communication (working with an American client).
  • Ability to discuss technical challenges, review proposals, and proactively address roadblocks.
