Our client in the Pharmaceutical sector is looking for a freelance DeltaV Automation Engineer on a freelance basis based in Cologne. You will play a crucial role in implementing the software for new machinery and building management systems, ensuring the efficiency, reliability, and compliance of our manufacturing processes.
Job Summary:
The DeltaV Automation Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of DeltaV control systems within our pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities. This position will focus on integrating new machinery and building management systems, ensuring seamless operation and compliance with the manufacturing processes regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including process engineers, validation engineers, and equipment vendors to design and implement DeltaV automation systems for new machinery and building management systems.
- Develop functional and detailed design specifications, control strategies, and configuration standards for DeltaV control systems.
- Configure and program DeltaV control systems to meet process requirements, ensuring proper operation and integration with existing systems.
- Perform system testing, debugging, and troubleshooting to identify and resolve automation-related issues during the implementation phase.
- Generate and maintain accurate documentation including user requirements, functional specifications, test protocols, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for DeltaV systems.
- Collaborate with validation and quality assurance teams to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including FDA guidelines, GMP, and safety standards.
- Provide technical support and guidance to operations and maintenance teams for DeltaV systems, including training and troubleshooting assistance.
- Stay current with industry trends, advancements, and best practices in DeltaV automation technology and propose innovative solutions to enhance manufacturing processes.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably in Chemical, Electrical, or Automation Engineering.
- Proven experience in implementing DeltaV automation systems in a pharmaceutical, biotech, or similar regulated industry.
- Strong knowledge of DeltaV control system architecture, configuration, programming, and troubleshooting.
- Experience in integrating DeltaV systems with various automation components such as PLCs, SCADA systems, and data historians.
- Prefered - experience in GMP environment, Pharma or Biotech.
- Familiarity with building management systems (BMS) and their integration with DeltaV is an advantage.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and effectively convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work while adhering to project timelines.
