We're looking for our first Director of Human Resources. This is a new position and presents a unique opportunity to help rapidly scale a cutting-edge aerospace and technology company. The Director of HR will be integral to the execution of the company’s ambitious goals and will contribute compelling, innovative ideas to help create an organization that defines company culture. This is an opportunity for you to start an HR organization from scratch and do it right - the way you have always wanted it to be done! In order to provide maximum support to the workforce, this position is based at our headquarters in Manassas, VA and requires onsite office hours.

What You'll Do
- Create a modern HR organization from the ground up. This is a "doer" position on day one and you will be responsible for all aspects of human resources policy, practices, and strategy including talent acquisition, talent management, compensation and benefits, learning and development, employee engagement, performance management, succession planning, employee relations, and HR systems and analytics.
- Make the company an inclusive environment and a model of aerospace industry diversity
- Implement innovative talent management strategies to ensure the organization identifies, recruits, develops and retains employees at all levels.
- Work collaboratively with the VP/GM & senior leadership team to shape and retain the entrepreneurial and innovative Electra culture. Build bridges between the various sites to ensure they remain unified and connected as one culture.
- Provide leadership as part of a small executive team involved with organizational priorities, policy development, and strategic planning.
- As the business grows, you will hire, coach, develop, mentor, and retain a team of HR professionals in various areas of HR specialty; provide substantive technical advice and knowledge to support the development of team members.
- Develop and track key performance metrics to shape company decisions and trajectories.
- Bachelor’s Degree required; Human Resources or related field preferred; MBA or a masters in a related field is desirable.
- 6+ years of well-rounded human resources experience with experience in developing and implementing all key functional areas including talent management, learning and development, employee relations, recruitment, compensation/benefits, and process improvements.
- Proven experience successfully building and directing a team of HR professionals.
- Experience designing and implementing annual and long-term incentive compensation programs.
- Direct experience implementing and managing an enterprise Human Resources Management System (HRMS).
- Ability to successfully lead and partner with individuals and teams across a wide range of functions, organization levels, and site cultures.
- Ability to triage priorities and rapidly implement high-impact actions with an entrepreneurial mindset.
- Passionate about creating a workplace that retains and attracts highly motivated and talented individuals.
- Adept at handling sensitive employee relations matters.
- Confident and decisive, possessing a strategic focus as well as an operational and detail-oriented perspective.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trusting relationships as well as influence employees at all levels. Strong team player with the ability to apply different communication and leadership styles as appropriate to each situation.
