Are you an experienced project manager with a strong background in data protection? Join NATO’s Office of the Chief Information Officer as a PDPP Support Contractor in Brussels and play a pivotal role in advancing data protection initiatives across NATO. This impactful role will focus on secure, compliant, and efficient personal data management within one of the world’s most respected international organizations.

About the Role As the PDPP Support Contractor, you will lead and execute core activities for NATO’s Personal Data Protection Programme, ensuring adherence to best practices and evolving standards across NATO bodies. This includes assessing current practices, prioritizing areas for improvement, and providing ongoing support to NATO’s offices and personnel.

Key Responsibilities
  • PDPP Strategy Execution: Drive the implementation of the PDPP strategy by analyzing data processing activities and prioritizing efforts where NATO gains the most value.
  • Compliance & Risk Framework: Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify gaps and develop a risk-based prioritization framework.
  • Documentation and Training: Maintain and enhance PDPP guidance, forms, templates, and training materials, ensuring they align with current regulations.
  • Implementation Support: Support NATO bodies with customized plans, training sessions, and troubleshooting as they implement the PDPP.
  • Incident Monitoring and Response: Establish a data breach response plan, and implement continuous monitoring for compliance.
  • Post-Implementation Review: Deliver insights and recommendations for future program improvements in a lessons-learned report.
What We’re Looking For
  • Project Management Expertise: Experience in managing complex projects, with PRINCE2 or PMP certification as a plus.
  • Educational Background: University degree (preference for fields requiring strong writing skills such as humanities or journalism).
  • Data Protection Knowledge: Background in personal data protection or privacy management; CIPP/M certification highly desirable.
  • Flexible GDPR Knowledge: Familiarity with GDPR or other privacy regulations but able to apply a broader data protection perspective.
  • Language and Communication Skills: Exceptional English writing and briefing skills; French proficiency is a bonus.
  • NATO Experience and Clearance: Deep knowledge of NATO’s structure and NATO SECRET clearance are essential.
