About the Role:
As a Principal Data Platform Engineer, you’ll be responsible for designing and integrating modern data technologies, leading the migration to Snowflake, and driving the development of a data platform. Your work will support critical data engineering and data science initiatives, enabling better access to and use of data across the company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement scalable data solutions, integrating various data technologies.
- Lead the migration to Snowflake, optimising performance and ensuring seamless integration with enterprise systems.
- Develop and manage end-to-end data pipelines to support smooth data flow and storage.
- Collaborate with engineering and product teams to deliver cross-functional projects and streamline processes.
- Drive the adoption of a data mesh framework, enhancing the organization’s ability to use data more effectively.
- Participate in agile methodologies, contributing to continuous improvement in all aspects of data platform engineering.
- Strong coding skills in Python and SQL.
- Proficiency in Snowflake, including query optimisation and performance tuning.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms like Azure or AWS.
- Knowledge of tools such as DBT, Airflow, GraphQL, and Collibra.
- Familiarity with distributed systems, APIs, and cloud computing architectures.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and infrastructure as code.
- A collaborative mindset, with the ability to mentor and support team members.
- A proactive, problem-solving approach, focused on continuous improvement.
