Project Engineer
Hamburg, HybridWe’re seeking a Project Engineer to deliver tailored automation and control solutions for commercial vessels, with a focus on retrofit projects. You’ll be involved at every stage — from presales through to handover — working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure reliable, secure, and efficient systems.
What You’ll Do

System Development: Design, configure, and program automation systems to vessel-specific requirements

Customization: Adapt software and databases with ship-specific values, parameters, and signals

Documentation: Produce and maintain functional descriptions, test protocols, I/O lists, and drawings for approvals

Testing: Debug systems during engineering phases and support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)

Collaboration: Coordinate with project managers, service teams, sales, and logistics to ensure smooth delivery

Technical Support: Advise on design changes, troubleshoot issues, and promote quality improvements

Project Planning: Contribute to scope definition, balancing quality, cybersecurity, cost, and timelines

Compliance: Ensure adherence to internal and customer quality/security standards
What We’re Looking For

Qualification in marine engineering, automation, electronics, or related field

Several years’ experience in automation or control systems

Familiarity with SCADA systems, IEC 61131-3, and communication protocols (Modbus, CANbus, IEC61162)

Knowledge of marine equipment (pumps, valves, switchgear) and design tools (AutoCAD, Eplan, SolidWorks)

Confident with Microsoft 365 and cross-team collaboration

Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Proactive, team-oriented, and eager to keep learning new technologies
