As a Cloud & Linux Operations Engineer you will join the Network & Cloud Operations function responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and availability of large-scale cloud and data centre infrastructure.
This is a hands-on operational role where you will monitor, troubleshoot, and support network, server, and Linux-based environments, while gaining exposure to enterprise cloud platforms and high-availability systems.
You will work closely with senior engineers and operational leadership, supporting day-to-day activities alongside infrastructure improvement initiatives.
This role operates within a 24/7 support rota.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor cloud, server, network, and Linux infrastructure to ensure availability and performance
- Perform first-line troubleshooting across system, network, and Linux OS incidents
- Support daily operations across routers, switches, firewalls, servers, and load balancers
- Provide operational support for Linux server environments (monitoring, access, performance checks)
- Assist with incident response and Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
- Carry out configuration checks and basic infrastructure changes
- Review system logs and alerts to identify and resolve issues
- Support patching, maintenance, and upgrade activities
- Contribute to data centre and infrastructure improvement projects
- Collaborate with senior engineers on planned works and operational scheduling
- 0–3 years of experience within:
- Cloud Operations
- NOC / Network Operations
- Infrastructure / Data Centre Support
(Internships and graduate experience considered)
- Cloud Operations
- Hands-on exposure to Linux operating systems in an operational or support capacity
- Basic command-line experience (file systems, permissions, processes)
- Familiarity with Linux distributions such as RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu
- Understanding of TCP/IP networking fundamentals
- Knowledge of L2/L3 networking (VLANs, routing, switching, NAT, ARP)
- Exposure to routing protocols (BGP, OSPF) — theoretical or practical
- Understanding of cloud / virtualisation concepts
- Interest in network infrastructure (routers, firewalls, switches)
- Awareness of server hardware components
- Willingness to work in a 24/7 operational support environment
- Strong troubleshooting mindset and eagerness to learn
- Certifications (CCNA, RHCSA, Linux )
- Hands-on lab / home project experience
- Exposure to monitoring and alerting tools
- Understanding of incident management processes
