AI Architect (ML, Finetuning, DevOps)

About the Role
A forward-thinking technology company in Hamburg is seeking an experienced AI Architect to lead the design and deployment of advanced machine learning systems. This 3-month contract role focuses on model architecture, fine-tuning, and production-level DevOps integration for AI-driven products and platforms.
Key Responsibilities

Design and implement end-to-end AI architectures, from data ingestion and model development to deployment.

Lead the fine-tuning and optimization of LLMs and other ML models for production environments.

Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate AI models into cloud-based microservice architectures.

Develop and maintain MLOps pipelines using modern DevOps tools and best practices.

Ensure model governance, scalability, and observability throughout the lifecycle.

Stay current with emerging AI technologies, frameworks, and research, advising on best-fit solutions.
Required Skills & Experience

5+ years of professional experience in AI/ML architecture or similar roles.

Strong hands-on experience with machine learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face Transformers).

Proven experience with model fine-tuning and deployment of LLMs or deep learning systems.

Proficiency in Python and familiarity with API integration and microservices.

Solid understanding of DevOps/MLOps practices, including CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud-based pipelines.

Experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).

Strong understanding of data pipelines, model monitoring, and scalability principles.

Excellent communication and technical leadership skills.

Fluent in English (German a plus).
Nice to Have

Experience implementing vector databases, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), or AI agent frameworks.

Familiarity with security and compliance in AI model deployment.
