India Tax, Legal & Statutory Lead – SAP S/4HANA Rollout

Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced India Tax, Legal & Statutory Lead to support a global SAP S/4HANA rollout within the renewable energy sector.
The role will be responsible for ensuring that Indian tax, legal and statutory requirements are correctly incorporated into the global S/4HANA template and India localisation. You will act as the bridge between Indian regulatory requirements, SAP solution design and the global implementation team.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and coordinate India-specific tax, legal and statutory requirements across the S/4HANA programme.
- Participate in fit-to-standard and fit-gap workshops and ensure India requirements are correctly reflected in the global template.
- Translate Indian regulatory requirements into SAP functional requirements and specifications.
- Review and validate SAP configuration and developments from an India compliance perspective.
- Support key India localisation topics including:
- GST and tax determination
- E-invoicing and e-Way Bill
- TDS/TCS and withholding tax
- SAP DRC / ACR and statutory reporting
- Customs and import-related requirements
- Ind AS and local statutory reporting
- Define and support SIT/UAT testing, data migration, cutover and hypercare activities related to India localisation and compliance.
- Work closely with the global SAP team, system integrator, business stakeholders and external tax/legal advisors.
- Provide guidance and sign-off on India compliance requirements and escalate relevant risks to the global programme.
Requirements
- 10–15 years of experience in Indian tax, legal and statutory matters.
- Professional qualification such as CA, CS, CMA, LLB or equivalent.
- Hands-on experience with at least one SAP S/4HANA or ECC implementation/rollout.
- Strong knowledge of Indian GST, withholding tax, statutory reporting and SAP India localisation.
- Practical experience with SAP S/4HANA Finance, DRC/ACR and tax-related processes.
- Experience working within global SAP templates or multi-country rollouts.
- Good understanding of SAP Activate, fit-to-standard, fit-gap, testing and go-live activities.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Renewable energy, power or infrastructure experience is highly desirable.
