Job Description

Reporting to the Data Governance team lead and an integral part of the IT Data team, the Data Architect/Data Modeling Specialist, will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our data-driven organization.
You will be responsible for designing and implementing robust data models that support our business objectives and enable data-driven decision-making and FAIR data principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable). You will work closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, and data governance experts to ensure data is accessible, reliable, and secure.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Data Modeling :
    • Develop and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models that align with business requirements.
    • Ensure data models are optimized for performance, scalability, and maintainability.
    • Collaborate with data engineers to translate data models into efficient data structures and pipelines.
  • Data Architecture :
    • Design and implement a data architecture that supports our data mesh strategy, promoting data autonomy and self-service.
    • Define data standards, guidelines, and best practices to ensure data consistency and quality.
    • Write technical requirements for data products and data contracts.
    • Oversee the implementation of data governance policies and procedures to protect data integrity, access control and security.
    • Ensure data models facilitate the automation of lineage representation
  • Data Product Validation :
    • Review and validate data products to ensure they meet technical requirements and data quality standards.
    • Own and ensure adherence to the governance part of the data product definition of done
    • Collaborate with data domain teams and analysts to understand their data needs and provide appropriate data solutions.
  • Data Documentation :
    • Create and maintain comprehensive data documentation, including data dictionaries, data flows, and technical specifications.
    • Foster a culture of data literacy by providing clear and concise data documentation.
Skills and Experience Required
  • Educational Background:
    • Master’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Experience:
    • 5-10 years of experience in data architecture, data modeling, or data engineering roles
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Strong proficiency in data modeling techniques (e.g., ER modeling, dimensional modeling)
    • Deep understanding of relational and NoSQL databases
    • Experience with data warehousing, data lake architectures and cloud data platforms
    • Knowledge of data integration and ETL processes
    • Familiarity with data quality tools and techniques
  • Data Governance:
    • Experience in implementing data governance frameworks and policies
  • Collaboration:
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Experience with Agile deliveries and Scrum principles.
    • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional project teams with internal stakeholders, including internationally.
  • Communication:
    • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts in layman's terms.
  • Rigor and Confidentiality:
    • Adherence to strict data confidentiality and quality standards.
