IT Asset Management Team Lead – Contract

Location: Chicago, IL

Duration: Long-term contract through November 2027plus extensions

Work Arrangement: Onsite in Chicago, with remote flexibility as approved

We are looking for an experienced IT Asset Management Team Lead to take ownership of enterprise IT asset management, CMDB governance and lifecycle management within a large, complex environment.

This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for improving asset management processes, maintaining accurate and reliable CMDB data, overseeing inventory and procurement activities, and leading a team supporting day-to-day IT asset operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead IT asset lifecycle management from procurement through retirement and disposal

• Own and maintain the accuracy, integrity and effectiveness of CMDB and asset data

• Oversee enterprise hardware inventory, stockrooms, asset assignments and reconciliation

• Develop and improve IT asset management policies, procedures, workflows and standards

• Monitor asset compliance and identify data or process gaps

• Support procurement activities and coordinate with vendors and internal stakeholders

• Develop and track KPIs, SLAs and management reporting

• Lead continuous improvement initiatives across ITAM processes

• Support audits, compliance activities and asset governance

• Build strong working relationships with IT teams, business stakeholders, vendors and leadership

• Provide guidance and leadership to IT Asset Management, Desktop or Service Desk team members

• Ensure asset requests, deliveries, deployments and disposals are managed effectively

Required Experience

• 7+ years of experience working within an enterprise IT environment across IT Asset Management, Desktop, Network, Service Desk, Server or Telecommunications

• 3+ years of IT Asset Management and/or CMDB experience

• 2+ years of experience leading an ITAM, Desktop or Service Desk team

• Strong understanding of IT asset lifecycle management and configuration management

• Experience working with enterprise CMDB and ITSM platforms

• Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills

• Experience developing and improving IT processes and procedures

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Preferred Experience

• ServiceNow, Freshservice, Device42 or similar platforms

• ITIL Foundation certification

• IAITAM/CITAM certification

• Experience in healthcare, financial services or another highly regulated environment

• NIST or CIS framework/audit experience

• Experience managing large enterprise asset inventories across multiple locations

• Experience with software licensing, compliance and IT audits

• Lean, Six Sigma, DMAIC or similar continuous improvement methodologies
