SAP ABAP Developer

The Opportunity

We are supporting a leading Utilities organisation that is undertaking a significant programme of SAP enhancement and transformation. They are looking for an experienced SAP ABAP Developer to join their delivery team on a 12-month contract.

Working alongside functional consultants, solution architects and business stakeholders, you will develop, enhance and support SAP applications across core business processes while contributing to ongoing project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain high-quality SAP ABAP solutions

• Develop reports, interfaces, enhancements, forms and workflows (RICEF objects)

• Build and support custom developments using ABAP Objects

• Develop integrations using IDocs, BAPIs, RFCs, OData services and APIs

• Work closely with functional consultants to translate business requirements into technical solutions

• Perform code reviews and ensure developments align with SAP best practices

• Troubleshoot production issues and provide ongoing application support

• Produce technical documentation and support testing activities

• Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of SAP ABAP development experience

• Strong knowledge of:

  • ABAP Objects

  • Reports, Enhancements, User Exits and BAdIs

  • SmartForms and/or Adobe Forms

  • ALV Reporting

  • IDocs, BAPIs and RFCs

  • OData Services and SAP Gateway

• Experience integrating SAP with third-party systems

• Strong debugging and performance optimisation skills

• Experience working across multiple SAP modules (such as IS-U, FI/CO, MM, PM or SD)

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work directly with business stakeholders

• Experience working within Agile delivery environments

Desirable

• Previous experience within the Utilities sector

• Experience with SAP IS-U

• Exposure to SAP S/4HANA migrations or transformation programmes

• SAP Fiori/UI5 development experience

• CDS Views and SAP HANA development knowledge

• SAP BTP exposure would be advantageous
