SAP HCM ECC FUNCTIONAL CONSULTANT
Remote work, Switzerland
Apply by 7 Dec 2025
Job Ref.: BH-56075
Job Description
Engagement Context: 100% System Focus
The organization’s SAP HCM ECC system remains active but lacks documentation and internal functional ownership. Most prior SAP HCM knowledge has been lost, and the current team consists primarily of developers with limited HR functional expertise. The SAP system continues to support ongoing HR and Payroll operations and will remain operational for Payroll processing and historical data post-Workday implementation.
In the new landscape, Workday will serve as the system of record, while SAP HCM ECC will function as a downstream system, integrated via SHAPEiN using PECI.
Core Focus Areas
- Analyze and document existing SAP HCM ECC configuration, including custom developments, tables, schemas, and infotypes.
- Stabilize Payroll, Time Management, and Personnel Administration processes to ensure uninterrupted HR operations.
- Maintain SAP as an integration-ready, data-consistent downstream system within the Workday ecosystem.
- Collaborate with Workday and SHAPEiN partners, providing accurate SAP-side logic, field definitions, and data structure information.
- Produce structured, maintainable documentation and transfer functional knowledge to internal HR and IT teams.
- Ensure system stability, compliance, and reliability throughout the transition.
- Reverse-engineer and document all relevant HCM modules: OM, PA, TM, PY, CM, ESS/MSS, Workflow, TRV.
- Troubleshoot and correct Payroll schema logic (PE01), PCRs, wage types, and time evaluation rules.
- Review and validate custom infotypes, Z-tables, and configuration relevant to HR and Payroll processing.
- Ensure SAP data structures align with integration requirements (PECI via SHAPEiN).
- Clarify and document functional dependencies between HR processes and SAP configuration.
- Create maintainable technical and functional documentation for long-term operations.
- Deep functional expertise in SAP HCM ECC: OM, PA, TM, PY, Compensation, ESS/MSS, Workflow, Travel.
- Advanced Payroll configuration: schemas, PCRs, wage types, cumulations, evaluation logic.
- Experience with custom infotypes, Z-tables, and enhancements (BADIs, user exits).
- Understanding of SAP HR integration frameworks and downstream data alignment principles.
- Strong ability to analyze undocumented systems, identify inconsistencies, and restore clarity.
- Fluent English; German reading ability is a plus.
- Familiarity with SHAPEiN or PECI data flows is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Complete functional documentation of the SAP HCM ECC system.
- Stabilized Payroll and HR operations with clear functional ownership and reduced external dependency.
- SAP validated and aligned as a stable downstream system in the Workday landscape.
- Improved compliance, data consistency, and maintainability.
- Restored functional knowledge base to support long-term internal operations.
