Job Description
Start Date: August 1, 2025

Our client is building a new class of tools that turn raw smartphone sensor data into clinically meaningful insights. These tools will help researchers and clinicians evaluate treatments earlier in the development cycle, improving decision-making and reducing drug development costs.
As part of this mission, we’re opening a new office in Belgium and are expanding our engineering team in Europe.
We are hiring a Senior Data Engineer to lead the design of scalable, production-grade data infrastructure — with a focus on Databricks, AWS, and Snowflake.
The Role You will be responsible for building and maintaining the data pipelines and cloud infrastructure that powers our ML models and clinical data products. This includes high-frequency time-series data from mobile sensors, processed and transformed to support research and modeling needs.
We are looking for someone who is Databricks certified and experienced in building end-to-end data workflows using Snowflake as a core platform.
You’ll work closely with ML engineers, data scientists, and product teams to ensure the entire data stack is robust, documented, and production-ready.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and optimize data pipelines using Databricks, Spark, and Snowflake for ingesting and transforming raw sensor data.
- Develop workflows that support downstream ML modeling, analytics, and clinical dashboards.
- Manage cloud infrastructure on AWS (S3, Glue, Lambda, etc.).
- Implement best practices in data governance, compliance, and documentation.
- Ensure scalability and reliability of pipelines across multiple data sources and teams.
- Collaborate with machine learning and product teams to translate business and research needs into technical requirements.
- Maintain clean, auditable, and testable data processes suitable for regulated healthcare environments.
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering or backend infrastructure.
- Databricks Certified (Data Engineer Associate or Professional).
- Proven experience with Snowflake: data modeling, optimization, and integration.
- Strong Python and SQL skills; experience with Spark and orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow) is a plus.
- Solid background in AWS cloud services.
- Experience working with time-series, sensor, or biomedical data preferred.
- Familiarity with healthcare or regulated data environments is an advantage.
- Based in Europe with availability for remote collaboration and occasional on-site work in Belgium.
- Fluent in English; Spanish or French is a plus.
