The Opportunity

We are supporting a leading US Property & Casualty insurance organisation seeking an experienced TM1 Data Engineer to support the modernisation of its financial planning, forecasting and data infrastructure.

This role requires a rare combination of deep IBM Planning Analytics (TM1) expertise, hands-on data engineering capability and a strong understanding of enterprise financial systems.

The successful candidate will work across legacy financial platforms and modern cloud technologies, helping to improve the performance, scalability and accessibility of financial data used for critical business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the modernisation and optimisation of IBM Planning Analytics (TM1) financial planning and forecasting environments.
• Design, develop and maintain TM1 data models, cubes, rules and TurboIntegrator processes.
• Engineer scalable data pipelines integrating financial data across enterprise systems.
• Support the migration and modernisation of legacy financial applications and infrastructure.
• Work with AWS and Databricks to develop modern data engineering solutions.
• Apply containerisation technologies to improve application deployment, scalability and infrastructure management.
• Collaborate with Finance, Actuarial, Technology and Data teams to deliver reliable financial data products.
• Improve data quality, integration, performance and accessibility across financial forecasting platforms.
• Support financial scenario modelling, forecasting and reporting capabilities.

Essential Experience

IBM Planning Analytics / TM1

• Strong hands-on experience developing, maintaining and optimising IBM Planning Analytics (TM1) solutions.
• Experience with complex financial modelling, forecasting and enterprise planning applications.
• Strong understanding of TM1 architecture and infrastructure.

Data Engineering & Cloud

• Proven hands-on data engineering experience, ideally involving AWS and Databricks.
• Strong SQL and data integration capabilities.
• Experience building and maintaining enterprise data pipelines.
• Understanding of containerisation technologies and cloud infrastructure.
• Experience modernising legacy applications and integrating them with modern data platforms.

Financial Systems & Insurance

• Strong understanding of financial planning, forecasting and financial data structures.
• Experience supporting complex enterprise finance functions.
• Ideally, experience within Property & Casualty insurance, including financial forecasting, actuarial data or underwriting-related financial models.

Desirable Experience

• Experience modernising on-premise TM1 environments.
• Exposure to financial scenario modelling and catastrophe-related forecasting.
• Knowledge of enterprise data architecture, data governance and data quality.
• Experience working with large, complex insurance organisations.
• Exposure to AI-enabled financial forecasting or automation initiatives.

Location Requirements

Candidates must be able to work on-site at one of the following locations:

• Hartford, Connecticut
• Minneapolis, Minnesota

Applicants must be based within commuting distance or willing to relocate.

We are particularly interested in individuals who combine genuine TM1 technical expertise with modern data engineering capabilities.

This is not a traditional TM1 Developer position. The successful candidate must understand the underlying financial applications while being capable of engineering and modernising the infrastructure and data architecture supporting them.
