Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Navigation Service Engineer to join our Consultancy & Advisory team based in the Netherlands. This role plays a vital part in supporting shipbuilding and vessel operation projects by ensuring the successful commissioning, servicing, and handover of advanced navigation systems.

As a Senior Navigation Service Engineer, you will be responsible for commissioning complex navigation systems and ensuring their seamless integration aboard various maritime vessels. You will conduct detailed system checks and diagnostics on complex equipment, ensuring compliance with all technical specifications, industry regulations, and client requirements.

Responsibilities include presenting and handing over fully operational navigation systems to shipowners, shipyards, and classification societies. You will actively liaise with internal project teams, clients, and external stakeholders to coordinate system installations, resolve technical issues, and provide expert guidance throughout all project phases.

This position demands strong technical proficiency, effective troubleshooting skills, and a thorough understanding of maritime navigation technologies and systems. Your work will contribute directly to the safety, performance, and compliance of vessels operating in diverse environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Commission and test navigation systems on board new and existing vessels
  • Perform system diagnostics, troubleshooting, and fault resolution
  • Conduct final system checks and validation of complex equipment and installations
  • Present and transfer completed navigation systems to shipowners and classification societies
  • Document technical procedures, performance data, and compliance reports
  • Coordinate closely with shipyards, technical consultants, and project managers
  • Ensure all systems meet maritime safety standards and class society requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in navigation system commissioning or service engineering within the maritime industry
  • Strong knowledge of shipborne navigation systems including radar, ECDIS, GPS, AIS, and gyrocompass
  • Familiarity with classification society regulations and maritime safety standards
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to travel locally and internationally as required
  • Fluency in English; Dutch language skills are an advantage
