Job Description
In addition to the focus on Linux, the role also includes secondary responsibility in Windows Developer Client Support (e.g., Chocolatey for Business, application packing, scripting, etc.).
Ideally, the person will also have experience in software development—both to better understand the needs of our developers and to actively contribute to technical exchanges. At the same time, they should have a good understanding of modern infrastructure technologies such as VMware or backup systems.
The role also requires in-depth knowledge of scripting and automation (e.g., Bash, Python, Go) as well as experience with DevOps methods and tools.
In addition, suitable candidates will have strong social skills, excellent communication skills, conflict resolution skills, and a proactive approach to contributing their own ideas to the team.
Engineering, operation, and support of our virtualized Linux development clients and servers (including maintenance, lifecycle management, troubleshooting, and performance optimization)
Further development, optimization, and automation of our platforms, toolchains, and solutions (e.g., scripting, infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD integrations)
Engineering, operation, and support of our virtualized Windows development clients (e.g., Windows 11 build management, software distribution, configuration management)
In-depth understanding of modern infrastructure components (virtualization, backup systems, network fundamentals)
Experience with Windows Developer Clients (e.g., Chocolatey for Business, application packing, scripting, etc.)
Scripting and automation skills in at least one relevant language (e.g., Bash, Python, JAVA) as well as initial experience with DevOps methods and CI/CD
Precise, structured working style and the ability to continuously optimize and further develop complex platforms
Experience as a software developer or high technical affinity with development in order to understand the requirements of the developer community
Strong communication and teamwork skills, including conflict management skills and a willingness to contribute proactively
High level of initiative, sense of responsibility, and a solution-oriented working style
The Server Engineering (Wizards) department is responsible for the operation, further development, and security of Swisscard's central server platforms. Its core activities include:
Engineering, operation, and lifecycle management of virtualized Linux client/server and Windows Server development environments
Provision of stable, secure, and highly available platforms for developers, internal departments, and business processes
Automation, standardization, and optimization of infrastructure services (e.g., using scripting, DevOps pipelines, configuration management, automation)
Integration, support, and further development of virtualization and infrastructure technologies (e.g., VMware, backup, and storage systems)
Incident, problem, and change management for the supported platforms as well as close cooperation with stakeholders Technical consulting and support for development teams, projects, and internal customers
Co-design of the infrastructure strategy, evaluation of new technologies, and continuous improvement of the infrastructure
