Job Description

Test Automation Specialist – Data Testing Location: Zurich, Switzerland
Industry: Banking / Financial Services
Contract Duration: 6 months
Start Date: Immediate
Work Model: On-site
Working Hours: 40 hours per week
Open Positions: 2

About the Role We are looking for experienced testing professionals to support a data-focused testing initiative within a banking environment. The successful candidates will contribute to strengthening regression testing capabilities, improving test coverage, and ensuring the quality, accuracy, and reliability of enterprise data platforms and pipelines.

The role combines test automation engineering, data testing, and test management. Candidates should have a strong technical background, hands-on experience developing automation frameworks, and a solid understanding of enterprise data environments. Depending on their experience, candidates may focus more on test automation engineering or test management and coordination.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain automated regression testing frameworks for enterprise data platforms and pipelines.

  • Develop and execute automated test cases covering data ingestion, transformation, validation, reconciliation, and data integrity.

  • Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and maintain reliable test execution cycles.

  • Define test strategies, test plans, testing scope, and regression testing approaches.

  • Identify gaps in test coverage and implement improvements to testing processes and automation capabilities.

  • Collaborate with data engineers, developers, QA teams, and business stakeholders to translate requirements and data flows into effective test scenarios.

  • Manage test execution, defect tracking, troubleshooting, and reporting.

  • Investigate test failures and distinguish between genuine application or data defects and test environment issues.

  • Monitor testing progress, risks, dependencies, and quality metrics.

  • Document test frameworks, test cases, execution results, and testing procedures.

  • Communicate testing status, issues, and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Continuously improve test coverage, execution efficiency, and overall testing quality.

Required Skills and Experience
  • Overall experience: Approximately 10–15 years, depending on the candidate's focus and seniority.

  • Strong, demonstrable programming skills in Python, Java, or a comparable programming language.

  • Hands-on experience designing, developing, and maintaining test automation frameworks, rather than only executing pre-existing scripts.

  • Strong understanding of enterprise data platforms, including data warehouses, data lakes, ETL/ELT pipelines, data models, and data governance.

  • Solid SQL skills and experience validating large datasets for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and integrity.

  • Proven experience with automated test design, regression testing, test execution, and defect management.

  • Experience with test planning, test strategy, test reporting, and test management.

  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools and the integration of automated tests into deployment pipelines.

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience coordinating testing activities and collaborating with technical teams and business stakeholders.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to Have
  • Experience with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, or Azure Synapse.

  • Familiarity with testing tools and frameworks such as pytest, dbt tests, Great Expectations, Selenium, or similar technologies.

  • Experience in banking, financial services, or other regulated enterprise environments.

  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery teams.

  • Knowledge of data quality management and data reconciliation processes.

Candidate Profile We are looking for proactive, analytical, and adaptable professionals who understand both testing methodologies and enterprise data environments.

The ideal candidates can demonstrate strong technical capabilities, take ownership of testing activities, work effectively with evolving requirements, and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Candidates with a stronger automation engineering background and candidates with extensive test management experience are both welcome, provided they have a solid understanding of data testing and the technical concepts involved.
