Data Migration Consultant (CDM)

What does the BMR replacement program include?

Our business asset register (BMR) will be modernized in the coming years. We will start by replacing the current geographical information system (GIS) for electricity with GE's Electric Office (BMR EO project) and implementing a mobile solution for surveyors and technicians (BMR Mobile project). About 200 colleagues make intensive use of BMR. In addition, about 1200 users use the data from the MMR in their daily work.

The modernization of our BMR involves a major data migration process, a process in which the data in the current system is transferred to the new system in a controlled manner, while maintaining the quality and quantity of data. Parallel to the data migration, the rules for transfer (mappings) are determined, we perform data cleans on the basis of scripts and we integrate with the developments from the other workflows in the project.

Why add a data migration consultant to BMR?

The data migration team currently consists of a data migration lead, a data migration consultant, three specialists from the Asset Information Management department and one consultant from the supplier. Due to the timely availability of the data migration results, we are looking for reinforcement for the team. The progress of the data migration process is crucial, because all other workflows need data to base their developments on and because this is the basis for system acceptance.

The Epic Modernize BMR is therefore looking for a medior consultant Data Migration.

What will the medior consultant Data Migration do?

·       The Data Migration Consultant (CDM) is a member of the data migration team and reports to the Data Migration Lead.

·       The CDM is concerned with validating the performed migrations against the migration rules and, if necessary, describing in which source data cleansing is required for the migration.

·       The CDM is concerned with documenting the migration rules and agreed changes.

·       The CDM keeps an overview of the various components (documents) of the data migration and proactively identifies inconsistencies.

·       The CDM performs (both manual and script) analyses, on the basis of which decisions can be made in the data migration process.

·       The CDM checks the quality of the work on the basis of tests.

·       The CDM has knowledge of and experience with the (completeness) check of migrated data in previous migration processes (counts).

·       The CDM is responsible for the reporting of decisions made.

·       The CDM has basic knowledge of the assets of the Electricity Grid Operator that are registered in the GIS.

·       Has at least 1 year of experience with data migration processes or network asset data registration in GIS systems

·       Has an affinity with asset data and network registration of an (electrical) grid operator

·       Has experience in reading and interpreting data models

·       Has knowledge of GE Smallworld, both functionally and knowledge of data modeling and configuration

·       Has knowledge of GE Smallworld Magik to use Magik ad-hoc queries for data control, or knowledge of formulating queries in pseudo-code.

·       Has experience with / knowledge of FME

·       Has basic knowledge of SQL

·       Works carefully and accurately, and delivers high-quality work

·       Has an eye for detail

·       Is demonstrably familiar with an Agile way of working

·       Is a real team player and functions on both operational and tactical level

·       Is available for a minimum of 4 days a week

·       Has a command of the Dutch and English language in word and writing

·       Is willing to be present at the project location (Utrecht, Rotterdam) one or more days a week
