Virtualization System Engineer with one of our key clients based in Basel. This role involves managing, monitoring, and troubleshooting virtualization platforms for a leading financial firm. Automation and operations are also important aspects of this position.
- Contract : 2 years extension
- Basel
- On-site 50%: alternating weeks with 2 days on-site one week, 3 days the next
Skillset:
Must haves:
• Minimum around 7 years of experience as a Virtualization System Engineer (*****)
• Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware or similar technologies (****)
• Good knowledge of scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, or Bash for implementing automation tasks.
Experience implementing automation initiatives to improve operational efficiency. (****)
• Analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve technical issues (***)
• Solid understanding and experience with data center operations including cabling, hardware installation and equipment maintenance in collaboration with vendors (***)
Interpersonal skills:
• Strong communication skills • Ability to document processes, systems and troubleshooting steps
• Experience in discovering new technologies and continuously improve technical skills (proof of concept)
• Proactive attitude • Flexibility to participate in on-call rotations and handle critical incidents as needed
Nice to have:
• Knowledge of storage systems and backup solutions
• Security awareness: understanding of the importance of security in IT operations, especially in banking
• Ability to identify and mitigate security risks in daily tasks • Familiarity with tools and technologies like: Grafana, Github, Sharepoint, Splun
