Role Overview: We are looking for a Staff Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of scalable platforms that empower small businesses. As a key technical leader, you’ll collaborate with engineers and architects, drive innovation, and shape the future of financial technology. This role will focus on technical implementation, mentorship, and leading best practices.

Responsibilities & Aims of the Role:

Lead hands-on coding and technical implementation (80% of the role).
Collaborate with engineers and architects to define and deliver scalable solutions.
Provide mentorship and guidance to engineers across all levels.
Drive adoption of best practices and tools for building software the "Amex Way."
Contribute to system design, operational troubleshooting, and platform reliability.

Key Requirements:

10+ years of software engineering experience, with expertise in Java, Kotlin, JavaScript, React.js.
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure).
Strong knowledge of modern architecture, APIs (REST/GraphQL), and CI/CD.
Leadership experience in mentoring engineers and influencing technical decisions.
Excellent communication skills, able to articulate technical concepts to diverse audiences.
