Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst with deep expertise in the oil sector to join a dynamic team within the Financial Services | Energy Trading industry.

Based in London, this role offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of energy markets and financial trading, delivering critical analysis, requirements gathering, and functional specifications to support trading operations and strategic initiatives.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the full project lifecycle, working closely with stakeholders across front, middle, and back office teams to understand business processes and translate them into effective system solutions.

You will be responsible for gathering and analysing data, managing stakeholder relationships, supporting project delivery, and ensuring system changes are fully aligned with business needs in the fast-paced oil trading environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyse trading workflows, identifying opportunities to enhance system functionality and business processes.
  • Gather, document, and manage business and system requirements from stakeholders across the organisation.
  • Translate complex business requirements into detailed functional specifications and user stories.
  • Act as liaison between business users and technical teams, ensuring shared understanding of requirements.
  • Support testing activities, including user acceptance testing (UAT), to validate proposed solutions meet business needs.
  • Contribute to system design discussions and ensure alignment with business objectives and compliance requirements.
  • Provide post-implementation support and training where necessary.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Business Analyst within oil trading or broader energy trading domains is essential.
  • Strong understanding of physical and financial oil trading, including front to back trade lifecycle.
  • Familiarity with ETRM / CTRM systems (e.g., Endur, Allegro, or similar). Highly desirable. 
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and translate into actionable insight.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and manage expectations effectively.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments with exposure to Scrum or Kanban methodologies.
  • Experience with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, and Excel is highly desirable.
  • Degree educated in a relevant field such as Business, Finance, or Engineering.

Salary:  up to £110,000 per annum + Bonus and Benefits
