The OT Integration Delivery Lead is responsible for leading the delivery of Operational Technology integrations and OT operational applications within the Operations Data Hub (ODH) Phase 1 programme, including the Portsmouth Midscale Lighthouse and Cross-Platform Network Assessment.
Reporting to the GE Automation Lead, this role leads Workstream V and is accountable for the successful integration of manufacturing systems including DeltaV, Syncade MES, PI Historian and plant-side LIMS integrations into the ODH platform. The role translates approved architecture, semantic specifications and source-data requirements into detailed integration designs, mappings, configurations and production-ready solutions.
The successful candidate will ensure integrations are scalable, secure, vendor-supported, semantically accurate and operationally maintainable. Working closely with Architecture, Quality, IT/OT Delivery, Automation teams and system vendors, the role will establish reusable integration patterns and support delivery through qualification, hypercare and transition to operational support.
Key Responsibilities
OT Integration Delivery
- Lead the detailed design, configuration, development, testing and deployment of OT integrations.
- Deliver integrations with DeltaV, Syncade MES, PI Historian and plant-side LIMS connectivity.
- Deliver OT operational applications and plant-side visualisation capabilities where required.
- Ensure integration deliverables are completed on schedule, within budget and to agreed quality standards.
- Coordinate site automation teams, external partners and technology vendors.
OT Platform Configuration & Development
- Configure and develop OT solutions using Ignition, HiveMQ, MQTT, industrial gateways and related integration services.
- Define and implement message structures, topic structures, interfaces, mappings and data transformations.
- Establish reusable, modular and version-controlled configurations.
- Implement monitoring, diagnostics, exception handling and recovery capabilities.
- Ensure clear boundaries between OT integration components and IT-managed infrastructure.
Manufacturing Data & Context Integration
- Own source-to-target mapping of manufacturing data into approved ODH information models.
- Integrate data relating to batches, materials, equipment, recipes, process operations, unit procedures, parameters, events, samples and quality information.
- Ensure data mappings preserve business meaning and semantic relationships.
- Create documentation that supports traceability, testing and lifecycle maintenance.
Vendor-Supported Integration
- Work closely with Emerson and other technology vendors to establish sustainable and supported integration approaches.
- Ensure compatibility with product roadmaps and future upgrade paths.
- Avoid unsupported customisations and high-maintenance point-to-point integrations.
- Evaluate solutions based on scalability, cybersecurity, supportability and total cost of ownership.
Network Assessment & Integration Strategy
- Lead OT connectivity assessments across manufacturing environments.
- Assess existing DCS, MES, Historian and laboratory system integrations.
- Define integration readiness criteria and identify key dependencies, constraints and gaps.
- Develop reusable integration patterns and implementation approaches for future deployments.
- Contribute to long-term OT integration blueprints and rollout planning.
Engineering & DevSecOps
- Ensure OT code and configurations are version controlled and managed through appropriate release processes.
- Support automated deployment and repeatable delivery methods where appropriate.
- Define regression testing, configuration management and rollback strategies.
- Establish standards, templates and guidance for future OT integration deployments.
Quality, Validation & Operational Readiness
- Produce technical specifications, configuration records and testing documentation.
- Ensure reliable, complete and traceable manufacturing data transfers.
- Support qualification and validation activities within regulated environments.
- Ensure compliance with GMP, CSV/CSA, cybersecurity, change-control and data integrity requirements.
- Support hypercare activities and transition solutions into long-term support structures.
Vendor & Partner Management
- Manage work delivered by automation teams, implementation partners, system integrators and third-party vendors.
- Define scopes of work, deliverables, acceptance criteria and implementation responsibilities.
- Monitor delivery performance and resolve technical issues and dependencies.
- Verify quality of delivered configurations, documentation and knowledge transfer.
- Provide clear progress and delivery reporting to programme leadership.
