PI System Engineer / Administrator

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced PI System Engineer / Administrator to join a highly regulated manufacturing environment in Visp.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the administration, development, integration, and lifecycle management of the OSIsoft/AVEVA PI System, supporting manufacturing and automation systems while ensuring high levels of reliability, data integrity, and GxP compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Administer and maintain PI Data Archive, interfaces, connectors, and supporting infrastructure.
Configure and support PI Asset Framework (AF), including templates, hierarchies, attributes, and Event Frames (EF).
Develop and maintain PI Analytics, KPIs, calculations, and data evaluation solutions.
Design, implement, and troubleshoot integrations between PI and systems such as DeltaV, PLCs, MES, LIMS, and enterprise applications.
Develop integrations and applications using PI SDK, AF SDK, PI Web API, REST APIs, and SQL.
Support data sharing, visualization, and reporting solutions, including Power BI.
Ensure system reliability through monitoring, troubleshooting, lifecycle management, upgrades, and patching.
Create and maintain GxP-compliant documentation and support system validation activities.
Ensure appropriate standards for data integrity and compliance.
Collaborate closely with Automation, Manufacturing, Engineering, Data Analytics, and IT teams.

Your Background

Degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
Strong IT background covering servers, databases, networking, virtualization, and system integration.
Hands-on experience with:
- PI Data Archive
- PI Asset Framework (AF)
- Event Frames (EF)
- PI Interfaces & Connectors
- PI Analytics
- PI SDK / AF SDK / PI Web API
Experience working within GMP-regulated environments and producing GxP documentation.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis skills.
Fluent English and/or German.

Nice to Have

Experience within pharmaceutical or biotech manufacturing.
Knowledge of DeltaV, MES, SCADA, PLCs, and industrial automation environments.
Experience with Power BI, SQL databases, and data analytics platforms.
Understanding of OT cybersecurity and data governance.
Exposure to digital manufacturing and Industry 4.0 initiatives.
