The opportunity
This is a contract engagement supporting a major Information Security AI transformation, a large programme that is modernising and automating the security operating model with agentic AI.
We are looking for Senior software engineering specialist to build agentic AI security applications, APIs and MCP services.
You would work with a good deal of autonomy to deliver a defined set of outcomes, on complex and current problems within an infosec function.
What you would deliver
- Agentic AI application components, APIs and MCP services, designed, built, tested and delivered within the agreed architecture, patterns and standards.
- Integrations and automation across the applications.
- Secure, tested and observable code, with supporting documentation.
- Active involvement in code review and continuous improvement.
- Solid, practical software engineering experience delivering production quality applications and APIs.
- Current experience with the modern agentic AI stack, using today's industry practices, including LLM orchestration, retrieval augmented generation, tool and function calling, MCP, memory and prompt engineering, in Python as the main language, with TypeScript or Node useful for APIs and tooling, and Langgraph frameworks.
- Experience designing and building APIs and integrations, and writing secure, well tested, observable code.
- Comfortable working in CI/CD pipelines and modern engineering practices, including version control, automated testing, code review, containers and Infrastructure as Code, on AWS.
- An understanding of secure by default principles and of AI specific and traditional application risks, with practical knowledge of AI security practices such as the OWASP Top 10 for LLM and Generative AI applications and OWASP guidance for agentic AI.
- Awareness of common AI security issues in the build, such as prompt injection, insecure output handling, excessive agency and tool misuse, and how to guard against them.
- A habit of keeping current with fast moving AI engineering practices and applying them sensibly.
