Job Description
The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Engineering Lead to help shape and deliver the next generation of AI-enabled products and platforms within a highly complex, data-rich environment.
This role sits within a growing innovation-focused engineering team responsible for building intelligent systems that improve business processes, automate knowledge work, and unlock new opportunities through applied AI. You'll play a key role in defining technical direction, establishing engineering best practices, and leading the design and delivery of production-grade AI solutions.
This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys operating at the intersection of software engineering, solution architecture, data engineering, and business problem-solving.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead the design and development of AI-powered products and internal platforms.
- Translate business challenges into scalable technical solutions.
- Design and implement production-ready AI applications and intelligent workflows.
- Drive architecture decisions across cloud-native platforms and services.
- Establish engineering standards, governance, and best practices.
- Partner with stakeholders across multiple business functions to identify opportunities for automation and innovation.
- Guide and mentor engineers, consultants, and technical contributors.
- Support the responsible adoption of AI technologies within a regulated environment.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and identify opportunities to improve delivery velocity and product capability.
The role is approximately:
- 50% hands-on engineering
- 50% architecture, technical leadership, stakeholder engagement, and solution design

What We're Looking For Essential Experience
- Strong software engineering background with advanced Python development skills.
- Experience designing and delivering cloud-native applications.
- Experience building and deploying AI-enabled products into production environments.
- Strong understanding of software architecture and distributed systems.
- Experience working with APIs, data pipelines, and modern engineering practices.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving and systems-thinking capabilities.
Highly Desirable
- Experience working with OpenAI APIs and LLM-based applications.
- Experience with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures.
- Understanding of AI agents and agentic workflows.
- Experience building knowledge management or search platforms.
- Experience with vector databases and semantic search technologies.
- Exposure to data engineering and machine learning workflows.
- Experience taking AI solutions from proof-of-concept through to production adoption.
